Bronze Whale and The Odds put their Best foot forward
Disclosure: Bronze Whale are managed by Waxhole’s editor, Noctum
The Texas duo Bronze Whale (disclosure: Bronze Whale are managed by Waxhole’s editor) is back at it again and this time in collaboration with singer/songwriter, The Odds. After a couple of incredibly successful remixes for Crywolf and Imad Royal (respectively hitting #1 and #2 on Hype Machine), launching their label/collective Magic Magic, and their first original of 2016 “Hear Me”, we have “Best” the first single from the upcoming EP, Million.
This three track EP is the joint work between The Odds and Bronze Whale. It started with an appropriate slice of Americana in the form of a road trip between Austin, Texas and Oklahoma City, which ultimately set the stage for friendship between these two artists. More trips between the two cities followed as Bronze Whale continued to grow in their own brand of electronic music. The Odds used this time to reconnect with a series of cathartic lyrics and melodies.
When the first recording sessions took place it was just The Odds’ vocals and his guitar. Bronze Whale experimented with several different takes but ultimately decided to create something new and outside of their normal structure, breaking through to new sounds and styles to incorporate The Odds’ style into their own. The result is a collaborative journey through three songs incorporating the best of both electronic dance music and folk/pop songwriting.
