Fourplay Friday Volume 55
I can’t believe it’s Friday already. To the grindstone is where my nose has been all week and it has just flown by. In a mostly unprepared fashion I have searched high and low for these four tracks. I went to my usual places where I find gold but turned up nothing. So I had to spend some time digging, but hidden at the deepest depths is where you can find the richest veins.
Fire up we have La Mar. I haven’t heard from them since back in July when they dropped their magical “Trick Of The Light”. This time they are following it up with a remix of Tora’s “High Enough”. Just as I have come to expect from them it’s minimal, emotional and just hits you in all the right ways. This vocally driven emotional piece will have you coming back again and again.
Next up we have HWLS remxing salute’s “Silver Tides”. It’s a smooth and powerful ride that comes in and out as it pleases. Leaving an impression as more typical formulas are disregarded in favor of a minimal jam with a beat that will sooth you while keeping your feet moving.
I saw a new one on Lucian’s page so of course I had to click it. A remix of Nola Wren, who I didn’t know about but love the name. The song simply titled “College” had me interested and once the chorus kicked in I was laughing at what must be the new anthem for the millennials, myself included. Of course Lucian gave the original electropop track a perfect melodic trap twist.
Last up we have Keys N Krates. “I Know U” is the latest from the live future/trap trio. Heavy beats chopped vocal samples and powerful synths are what we’ve come to know of these guys. Every time it gets you moving and never feels stale. While this might actually be a bit toned down from some of their past hits it delivers none the less and I can’t wait to hear this tear up the sound system the next time they are through Austin.
