The Woodwork

flumeIt’s been a minute since I last posted on here. Not for a lack of good music finds (this has been an insanely great year for finding new music) but as it happens, life has dragged me a lot of directions.

As I am emerging from the woodwork, I thought I would offer up a song that follows suit. I present to you a two year old DNB remix of what I consider to be one of Flume’s masterpieces: Sleepless.

Flume is no stranger to.. basically every music blog out there. He’s proven time and time again that he can transcend genre standards, and has emerged as something much more than just an electronic music producer.

RUN DMT (real name John Robbins) is a producer originally from our hometown of Austin, TX that I’ve recently gotten to know. Building an artist collective from the ground up, supporting up and coming artists with their careers and putting out stellar content, this guy really is a jack of all music trades and a huge resource to the musicians he surrounds himself with.

Prior to his show here in Austin this last week, I was digging back through his soundcloud when I stumbled across his DNB remix of Flume. Nestled amongst hard hitting trap/dubby originals and remixes was this understated (under played) remix that I just have not been able to stop listening to.

RUN DMT manages to put an amazing energy and flavor on this track while still maintaining all of the core ingredients that made the original so striking. It feels effortlessly good and will have you bobbing your head and slowly turning up your speakers.

Also, as you may notice there’s a nice little free download button awaiting your click. Get After It.
