Rising collective / record label alaya is back with another amazing compilation, simply titled Issue 02. The new 21 song project is hefty with dope new tunes, all of which are worth the listen, but I’ll be highlighting some of my favorites off the compilation below. For starters, the incredibly laid back opener “Bodies,” an epic chill wave infused collaboration between Blackbird Blackbird and AViDD that will make you melt into whatever you’re currently sitting on. Up next to bat is Aussie producer Chiefs and his trapped out original, “Float.” The hard hitting new single is a hip-hop infused trap anthem that’s laced with a luscious R&B vocal that’s pitched up a couple octaves to give it a Kanye-inspired chipmunk sound to it. “Float” is my favorite tune on the whole project. Lastly, “Throw Some D’s” remixed by LUCA LUSH and Dirty Chocolate really stuck out to me as well on this project. I loved the original version of the song when it initially dropped and have heard a handful of awesome flips of this throwback classic but their collaborative take on it blows the other remixes out of the water. Really loving the synths used and hard hitting drums throughout on this one. Their sometimes minimalistic take, other times high energy touch on this one will jump out to most – and for good reason. Stream my three favorite records off Issue 02 below now, check out the compilation in full here.
