SXSW 2015 Coverage – House Of Vans

Vans | SXSW
vanslineup It’s important to find several “home base” spots when adventuring out for SXSW. Just because you have a badge or wristband doesn’t mean you will get into every show you put on your schedule. So with that in mind you need to find a few places that are larger and no matter what is going on, will have something for you to see that you trust is going to be quality.

Enter The House of Vans. The cultural hub and international music venue, is back in Austin for the 2015 SXSW Music Festival. Featuring five days of original and eclectic music acts under one beloved Austin rooftop, House of Vans and the Mohawk reunite for the third year in a row to bring a thrilling lineup of genre-defining talent curated in partnership with Pitchfork, Strange Victory Touring, Domino Recording Co., The Windish Agency, Rhymesayers 20th Anniversary, Fun Fun Fun, WeDidIt, Transmission Events and Fake Four.

With all that is going on here all week it’s hard to show up and not find something you like. I personally am stoked for the Rhymesayers showcase. Grieves, Brother Ali, Dilated Peoples, and Atmosphere back to back on one stage is a Hip-Hop dream come true. Saturday night we get some electronic flavor mixed in with various artists including Ryan Hemsworth, Groundislava, and Shlohmo and a TBA special guest. And all through the week we get enough various indie “insert sub genre here” bands to satisfy my beard itch. I’m sure I’ll be walking away with more than a few new albums from the merch booth.

To celebrate and prep for this we’ve put together one of the more diverse playlists that Waxhole has ever featured. Including music from through out the week. Enjoy and we’ll see you at the Mohawk
