Fourplay Friday Vol 8

ffsquare8

Hello Fourplay Friday, it’s been a little while. For all of our blustering talk about the anticipation that Friday brings this hasn’t always been the case. In the old days for some Fridays brought about a sense of trepidation and fear because it was considered unlucky. This is particularly so in maritime circles. A superstition reinforced by the 19th century urban legend of the HMS Friday. Supposedly the Royal Navy attempted to finally dispel the old superstition among sailors that beginning a voyage on a Friday was certain to bring bad luck. To demonstrate the falseness of this belief, they decided to commission a ship named HMS Friday. Her keel was laid on a Friday, she was launched on a Friday, and she set sail on her maiden voyage on Friday the 13th, under the command of a Captain James Friday. She was never seen or heard from again. Of course this all boils down to sailors are superstitious and anyway who would want to give up a weekend ashore.

To get volume 8 christened we have Alina Baraz & Galimatias with a beautiful and groovy tune sure to put a smile on your face. Next we have an all around blog favorite with Kastle throwing down a groovy deep track, that despite it’s inability to categorize is sure to fit into most playlists. Followed by a new comer to the blog but one I’ve been keeping my eye on for a while San Holo. This is the cut got that got him on Heroic Recordings and is now a track now featured on his debut EP, COSMOS. Finally we wrap things up with a great party tune from JPB. Sure this was an exclusive shared from our homies over at EDM.com but it is just too good not to share with our readers too. Thankfully this Fourplay Friday didn’t contain any old sea shanties, but only songs to get your Friday voyage kicked off in style.
