The M Machine Rebuilds An Empire

The M Machine

The M Machine (Website, Soundcloud) is quickly becoming one of my favorite electronic acts out there. They just finished giving us an amazing remix (here, and here) album from their Metropolis saga, along with a much anticipated remix of “Middle Finger” by Dog Blood. Now they are delivering us not just one but two versions of their latest remix for Australian indie group Empire of the Sun. Both are cleverly named for Helios and Apollo. For those unfamiliar with Greco Roman mythology Helios is a Titan and personification of the Sun, while Apollo is the Olympian god of light and the sun. At least they where until about the 3rd century BCE or CE, depending on which civilization we’re talking about. But enough of the history lesson.

The M Machines’ Helios comes through like it promises, a warm ray of light that uplifts. This would be great for a sunny day drive or a beach party. Apollo delivers like it’s namesake counterpart, more decadent and more powerful and perfect for lighting up a dancefloor. The Helios version is available for a free download from their soundcloud. The Apollo version joins the likes of Ta-ku, Alex Metric, and more in the Empire of the Sun’s DNA remix EP that is available for order from iTunes.
